The International version of the NEBOSH General Certificate is a broader qualification ideal for learners outside of the UK. The course is engineered to apply to international regulations and law, making it widely transferable.

The NEBOSH General Certificate has 11 learning outcomes. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

1. Justify the need for health and safety improvements

2. Advise on duties under the main pieces of health and safety legislation

3. Help your organisation to manage contractors

4. Work within a health and safety management system

5. Positively influence health and safety culture and behaviour

6. Carry out a general risk assessment (using a 5-step approach) of your workplace

7. Recognise workplace changes and their impacts, and understand how to minimise these impacts

8. Develop basic safe systems of work that include emergency arrangements and know when to use a permit-to-work system

9. Take part in incident investigations

The course is largely recognized as the perfect way to kickstart a career in health and safety. But it is also great if you just want to improve your knowledge to be able to do your job better.

Requisitos

The NEBOSH International General Certificate is suitable for anyone who wants to further their understanding of health and safety, whilst improving their employability. There are no entry requirements. However, learners must be prepared to put in the study and revision time required to pass the assessments.

NEBOSH recommends that learners have a suitable standard of the English language in order to understand the concepts in the course.

The International General Certificate course also comprises two central units that will cover critical topics such as health and safety management fundamentals and different types of workplace risk.

The course is split into 2 modules:

IG1: MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH AND SAFETY (Online open book exam)

Why we should manage workplace health and safety
How health and safety management systems work and what they look like
Managing risk - understanding people and processes
Health and safety monitoring and measuring

IG2: RISK ASSESSMENT (Practical risk assessment)

Physical and psychological health
Musculoskeletal health
Chemical and biological agents
General workplace issues
Work equipment
Fire
Electricity

The IG1 open book exam is completed electronically and submitted through the NEBOSH exam portal. You have 24 hours from 11am (UK time) on exam day to complete and submit your exam paper. The pass mark is set at 45 marks. The IG2 is a practical risk assessment based on a workplace. This can be completed at a place of work or at home, and is submitted by email according to deadline. You’ll be awarded a grading for the IG1 as outlined below; and for IG2 either a pass or refer (fail).

Your overall qualification grade will be based on the mark you achieve in your IG1 open book exam: Pass: 45-64 marks, Credit: 65-74 marks, Distinction: 75+ marks. You must successfully pass both units to achieve your full NEBOSH General Certificate.

The new Online Course includes exam preparation activities, key concept videos, bitesize learning modules and fully optimized digital course notes as well as access to the online learning community.

Exam dates:

NG1/IG1 open book exams are held throughout the year. You need to register before your chosen exam date at least 5 weeks before. NG2/IG2 practical risk assessments can be submitted at various times throughout the year. As with the NG1/NG2, you need to register to submit your practical 5 weeks before your chosen date.

Exam results: NEBOSH will email you your results within 10 weeks of sitting your exam or submitting your assessment.
